Program Description

The Employee Housing Program adopts and enforces statewide regulations for the construction,  maintenance, use, and occupancy of privately owned and operated employee housing facilities providing housing for five or more employees to assure their health, safety, and general welfare.  The Department's program staff oversees the application of state laws, regulations and code enforcement by local enforcement agencies who elect to enforce the provisions of the Employee Housing Act in their jurisdiction.  Where local enforcement agencies do not enforce the provisions of the Employee Housing Act, the Department of Housing and Community Development acts as the enforcement agency.
