State Housing Law (SHL) Current Program Activities

• Providing public assistance with the California Building Standards Code, including the accessibility requirements for multi-family residential buildings in Chapter 11A of the 2001 California Building Code (Title 24).
• Participation in the California Building Standards CommissionÆs Coordinating Council, along with other state agencies to coordinate regulatory actions.
• Updating the State Housing Law Regulations in Title 25 of the California Code of Regulations.
• Working on the development of the California Building Code, Title 24, Part 2 based on the 2006 International Building Code published by the International Codes Council.
• Working on the development of the California Electrical Code, Title 24, Part 3 based on the 2005 National Electrical Code published by the National Fire Protection Association.
• Working on the development of the California Mechanical Code, Title 24, Part 4 based on the 2006 Uniform Mechanical Code published by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials.
• Working on the development of the California Plumbing Code, Title 24, Part 5 based on the 2006 Uniform Plumbing Code published by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials.
• Working on the development of the California Existing Building Code, Title 24, Part 10 based on the 2006 International Existing Building Code published by the International Codes Council.
