Pablo Espinoza was appointed as Deputy Director of Communications in September 2023. Prior to his appointment, he spent nearly two decades at the California Legislature working for five Speakers of the Assembly as Deputy Director and Special Projects Media Consultant. Pablo has been an innovative storyteller, translating policy into stories that resonate with the public and convey the positive impact of government programs in the lives of Californians.
Prior to joining the Legislature, Pablo spent 15 years as a broadcast journalist for NBC and CBS TV stations from San Antonio, Waco, Fresno, to the Univision network station in Sacramento where he was an anchor, political reporter and host of the network’s statewide public policy program “Voz y Voto”, the only program, regardless of language, airing statewide that dedicated 30 minutes to the discussion, debate and analysis of public policy. During his tenure the ratings of Voz y Voto grew over 300%. Pablo has won numerous awards including two Emmys for his reporting work. He was also a contributing correspondent for PBS’ statewide political newsmagazine California Connected where he was part of a team that won the National Headliner’s Award defeating Dateline NBC and ABC’s 20 / 20. Pablo serves on the Board of Directors of the California Museum and Street Soccer USA. He previously served on the Board of Directors of the Institute for Local Government, the Latino Democratic Club, the Sacramento Press Club , the California Chicano News Media Association and the Media Advisory Board for the Make a Wish Foundation.
