Tyrone Buckley was appointed Deputy Director of Legislation at HCD in March 2024. He leads HCD’s Legislative Division and coordinates HCD’s review, response, and implementation of legislation.
Prior to his current appointment, Tyrone served as Assistant Deputy Director of Fair Housing at HCD from 2021 to 2024, where he led HCD’s implementation of state laws to Affirmatively Further Fair Housing. His role also included implementing tribal housing initiatives and reviewing and approving Regional Housing Needs Assessments.
Prior to joining HCD, Tyrone was Policy Director for Housing California, Legislative Advocate for California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation, and Policy Director for the Sacramento Housing Alliance.
Tyrone earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Davis School of Law, a Master of Arts degree in City and Regional Planning from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California, Davis.
