General Counsel Brandon M.G. Williams

In September 2024, Brandon M.G. Williams was appointed General Counsel and Deputy Director of Legal Affairs for HCD. In this capacity, he oversees the legal affairs of the department and works closely with the Director and his fellow Deputy Directors in crafting legal strategies that further HCD’s mission and its policy and programmatic priorities.

Prior to his appointment, Williams was an Assistant Chief Counsel for HCD, building and then overseeing its Legal Affairs Division unit that serves, inter alia, the Housing Accountability Unit, tribal affairs, Homekey, and other important homelessness programs.

Prior to joining HCD, Williams spent 16 years in private practice, during which period he received many accolades, including recognition as a California Superlawyer and inclusion in Best Lawyers in America. Williams received his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and his Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law.
