Obtaining a dealer or salesperson occupational license for manufactured homes, mobilehomes, multifamily manufactured homes (collectively referred to as “MH-units”) and commercial modulars (CMs) requires successfully passing an HCD-administered exam. The exams are multiple choice and cover the requirements of the laws and/or regulations specific to the type of license.
HCD has partnered with CPS HR Consulting to offer licensing examinations through Pearson Vue Testing Centers (PVTC). PVTC offers occupational licensing examinations statewide, with flexible scheduling and streamlined examination results.
NOTE: License applicants for MH-unit dealers or salespersons must also complete preliminary education courses prior to taking the exam. Completing continuing education courses is also required to maintain your HCD license. See the Courses and Course Providers page for more information.

Schedule an Exam
Appointments are required to take an exam. Contact the Occupational Licensing Program via email at OLtesting@hcd.ca.gov to begin the process of scheduling your exam.
Once approved for examination, the examinee will also receive information on the testing process through CPS HR Consulting within 7-10 business days. Once in receipt of this email, the examinee will receive an email from PVTC on how to create an account and schedule an examination.
