ADU Handbook - Updated January 2025 (with a new 2026 Addendum)
In December 2025, HCD added an Addendum at the end of the ADU Handbook that summarizes changes to State ADU Law in effect on January 1, 2026. To ensure consistency with current law, HCD plans to update the FAQs in the Handbook soon. In the meantime, please consult both the FAQs and the Addendum.
